Interview Magazine, The 2010 Covers
With the inexplicable rarity of good magazine covers, I feel we should celebrate those few titles that still understand their importance. Following our post about the Dazed & Confused 2010 covers, we take a look at what Interview magazine delivered this past year. My personal favorite is the May cover (bow to the Queen). The Naked Violence of Mert & Marcus
Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott go Steven Klein on us in the new October 2010 issue of Interview magazine with a brutally violent Russian Mafia-inspired editorial. Styled by Karl Templer, the striking shoot features Naomi Campbell torturing a bare naked male played by Alex Kovas.

Calvin Klein Jeans X Fall/Winter 10.11 by Mert & Marcus
After two seasons with Jamie Dornan and Eva Mendes by Steven Klein [see SS10, FW09.10 campaigns], Calvin Klein Jeans turned to Dutch model Lara Stone and photography duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott for their Fall/Winter 2010-11 ad campaign.
Lara Stone, who is a Calvin Klein exclusive this advertising season, is joined by Sid Ellisdon and AJ Abualrub. Models Eric Anderson and Grayson Vaughan are also reported to be part of the campaign, although I can’t see them in this selection released by Calvin Klein. However, you can see them in the uncensored campaign video after the jump.
DSQUARED2 Fall/Winter 2010 by Mert & Marcus
The new DSQUARED2 Fall/Winter 2010-2011 ad campaign is out, and it’s an intense dose of cold gorgeousness. Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott set themselves even further ahead of the others in the business. The new Givenchy Fall/Winter 2010 ad campaign by Mert & Marcus blurs gender lines and celebrates diversity by featuring a transgender woman. Lea T., a Brazilian who used to be Leo, is joined by Mariacarla Boscono, Simon Nessman, Jamie Bochert, Malgosia Bela, Jonathan Marquez, Paolo Rolden, Ming Xi, Catherine McNeil, Willy Cartier and Joan Smalls. The campaign is styled by Panos Yiapanis.

Madonna takes over the May 2010 issue of Interview magazine with two striking covers and an amazing shoot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. The Queen was styled by Karl Templer and art directed by Fabien Baron. More after the jump, including a making of video.
After Hours by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott | W
Ah, the after hours… when you’re very drunk, very tired, and very horny. Photography duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott bring their vision of the After Hours with a British flavor to the March 2010 issue of W (complete with a little British flag in the editorial’s title in the printed magazine). The shoot took place at The Rivoli Ballroom, Lewisham, England with styling by Alex White.
The boys are Cole Mohr, Tom Nicon, Ryan Mertz, Rob Moore, Jake Cooper, Maximilian Parsons and Robbie Wadge. The girls are Iris Strubegger, Lindsey Wixson, Kate Fogarty, Elsa Sylvan, Hannah Holman, and Vika Kuropyatnikova. More after the jump.
